Guest Mode vs Cloud Sync
How local-first storage works and when you might want to log in.
PromptNote is local-first. This means:
Guest Mode (Default)
When you open the app, you are in Guest Mode. All your data is stored in your browser’s localStorage and IndexedDB.
- No account needed.
- Data never leaves your device.
- Perfect for quick sessions or private work.
Cloud Sync (Optional)
If you choose to sign in, your notes are synced to our secure database.
- Access your prompts from multiple devices (phone + desktop).
- Backup your creates against browser cache clearing.
- We do not train on your prompts. Your data is yours.
