Agent Skills

Agent Skills let your AI assistant use the pnote CLI directly. Works with Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, and 40+ other agents via skills.sh. Ask your agent to search your library, copy prompts, create notes, or manage tags — all through natural conversation.

Install

Option A: Via skills.sh (Recommended)

npx skills add iopho-team/iopho-skills --skill pnote

Global install (available across all projects):

npx skills add iopho-team/iopho-skills --skill pnote -g -y

Option B: Via pnote skills pull

If you already use the pnote CLI and have your skills stored in PromptNote:

pnote skills pull          # Global: ~/.agents/skills/ + agent symlinks
pnote skills pull --project  # Project: ./.agents/skills/ + agent symlinks

This writes to the canonical .agents/skills/<name>/ store and creates relative symlinks in the agent directories (.claude/skills/ always, plus .windsurf/skills/, .augment/skills/, .agent/skills/ when those agents are installed), matching the npx skills layout.

A pull never deletes a real directory or overwrites a locally modified file — it reports a conflict and skips. Add --force to overwrite (the original is backed up to ~/.cache/pnote/skill-backups/ first), or --dry-run to preview.

scan is read-only — nothing is written, deleted, moved, or uploaded. By default it covers only the global agent skill directories, project roots derived from your agents’ own session records (Claude Code, OpenAI Codex CLI, Kimi Code, Grok/xAI CLI), and the current directory. A repository you cloned but never opened in an agent is not scanned — point at it with pnote skills scan --path <dir>.

Keep cloud and local in sync

Skills are stored as notes (note_type="skill") with titles like skill-name/filename.md. A push appends a new snippet version rather than destroying cloud history; if the cloud copy is newer than your local file, the push is skipped unless you add --force.

Option C: Manual

1. Clone or download SKILL.md from iopho-team/iopho-skills
2. Place in .agents/skills/pnote/SKILL.md in your project (or ~/.agents/skills/pnote/SKILL.md globally)
3. Agent-specific directories like .claude/skills/pnote should be symlinks pointing to ../../.agents/skills/pnote

Prerequisites

1. Install the CLI: npm install -g pnote
2. Authenticate: Generate an API token from the web app, then run:

pnote auth token pn_your_token_here

Usage

In Claude Code, use the /pnote slash command:

/pnote notes                    # list all notes
/pnote search "system prompt"   # search by keyword
/pnote notes --tag "ai/tools"   # filter by tag
/pnote notes snippet copy <id>  # copy to clipboard
/pnote notes create "Title"     # create a note

Or ask Claude naturally — the skill lets it run any pnote command:

“Search my PromptNote library for code review prompts”

“Copy the latest snippet from my ‘Claude system prompt’ note”

“Create a new note called ‘Meeting Summary Template’ with the content we just wrote”
